50% off on bento boxes – what are you waiting for?! Ft. Akira Japan House
50% off š¬š§ āØAKIRA at Japan House London āØ
As a huge Japanese food lover, Iām always scouting for decent Japanese restaurant to fix my cravings. Akira @akira is located on the first floor of Japan house at Kensington. Itās only 2-min walk away from the underground station. After spending almost half an hour on the ground floor to visit itās exhibition, we took the stairs up to the restaurant at 12pm sharp and be the first customer.
Akira offers sushi, bentos, skewers and some matcha desserts. Make sure to book online in advance of visiting the restaurant to enjoy up to 50% of discount off bento boxes at lunchtime (available during both weekends and weekdays).

You can order either of these bento boxes as 11 out of 15 if their slots are similar. They have only replaced 4 dishes (for eg sushi in return for fried foods). You can find sashimi salmon, tuna, beef, pork belly, veggie, fish and wasabi, ginger slices in the box. If you prefer sushi, make sure to get the sushi bento box.
In terms of its contents, my fav would be the thick and fresh tuna and salmon slices. Just dipped them onto the soy sauce given for free seconds, is more then enough to season it. Iām also impressed by its steamed eggs which are so smooth and tasted like taufuhua. The fatty portion of its pork belly literally melts in my mouth. The long bean is crispy and toppped with delicious cream. Everything is well-marinated and isnāt over cooked.
āHOW DOES THIS COMPARED TO ENGAWA?ā
I prefer this restaurant over Engawa as itās more superior in terms of tastes and presentation! However, a few more slots of their boxes are filled with veggie than fish/ meat so it might not be worth it in terms of the price you paid.
Conclusion

šÆWorth revisit: YAS š at 50% but I wouldnāt pay full price for this boxes as it simply doesnāt worth it unless more sashimi/ seafood are switched with the seasoning/ soy sauce and veggie slots. Iām keen to try their matcha crepe cake as it looks so soft and fluffy!
