Hi, I’m Jane!

Welcome to my food blog and thanks for stopping by!

I am a Malaysian, living in the UK for almost 7 years. Lockdown makes me feel homesick and I have been thinking about all kinds of pastries I have had back home in Malaysia. Hence, the born of “Taste of Surprise”. I learned most of my baking skills from my boyfriend, youtube and google tutorials.

The purpose of this food blog is also to document my food journey – I wanted to share at least 1,000 food posts with you in the next 10 years. I have also set myself up with a goal to try out restaurants in London and across the globe. I have documented my food journey and shared my reviews through short videos, photos and words so that you will be provide with sufficient information to decide whether you should try the restaurant yourself or not. I love food and I love taking photography for all the food I have eaten before.

If you are asking why I chose the name “Taste of Surprise”, it is because I love exploring new places for food and pleasantly surprising my friends and family, by bringing them to try out excellent cuisines from all around the world.

As far as life outside the kitchen and restaurant, I have been studying (part-time) and working in a professional service firm for close to four years. It was a tiring journey to juggle all my commitments and pull myself together to work on something I love during my free time but believe me, it will all be worth it one day!
