London’s hottest bakery trend ft Cream beignets from Fortitude Bakehouse

Fortitude Bakehouse

Beignet is a French word which refers to deep fried pastry usually made from yeast dough. It usually comes in the shape of squares but the Fortitude Bakehouse has totally revolutionised it.

Located at a small alley close to Bloomsbury, this bakehouse is well-known for making their cakes from sourdough and only do takeaways. We paid them a visit on a Saturday morning around 1 hour after they opened their shop.

It’s crazy how their first batch of beignets have been sold out and we have to sit there and wait for another 20 minutes for the second batches to be served.

It’s so busy with crowd forming queues to wait for their turns to order their pastries. Their other pastries looked equally tempting but we are here specifically for their cream beignets.

Food review

✨Here’s my review ✨
1️⃣ Cream Beigets
💰 £6.50
🌟 8.5 /10

They made different flavours of beignets every day – we were lucky enough to try the one that we adored – vanilla cream with chocolate hazelnut spread.

It surprised us how light are those cream – it wasn’t too sweet and directly melt in our mouth. We were worried that it could be a little bit too rich and creamy a first but we were totally wrong.

It’s airy and pillowy – and you can taste the chocolate spread at the very middle of the pastry with chopped hazelnut. As it’s topped with powdered sugar, we had a messy meal with our shoes and pants all whitened by the powder!

Conclusion

🤩Rating: 8.5/10
💷 Price: £
🎯Worth revisit: YAS 👏 London pastry is getting more and more expensive but it’s worth checking out this pastry and try their range of sourdough bakes.
