High Quality Halal Fried Chicken in London ft. Coqfighter

AD 🍔 Coqfighter 🍔

Coqfighter is all about bringing high quality halal fried chicken to London. What’s special about their fried chicken it is influenced by the eastern culture (interesting clash of “east meets west” in the food culture)- it’s all started as the owner enjoy eating Korean fried chicken during time spent in Melbourne.

Opened its first branch in Boxpark, Coqfighter has since amassed a huge fan base following up with opening of various branches in soho, Finsbury Park, Shoreditch, Croydon, Brockley, Balham.

✨Here’s my review ✨

Sides and sharing

1️⃣ Cheesy Corn
💰 £5.00
🌟 8.5/10

Imagine replacing Mac & cheese with a slightly healthier alternative, you get to eat corn rather than the usual ingredients. Turned out to be one of my fav dish of the store, check it out! It’s well-baked, covered by sufficient amount of cheese and served warm.

2️⃣Loaded Fries (£6)
💰 £6.00
🌟 6.5/10

Their loaded fries are topped with fried shallots, coriander, chives, pink onions and drizzled with buffalo sauce and chipotle mayo. Their fries are normal and not too special.

3️⃣ On The Bone
💰 £8.00
🌟 7/10

Brought my family over to enjoy the meal and they put high praise on their fried chicken! It’s brined overnight, steamed and fried till golden and finally dusted in salt. Here to confirm they live up to their reputation!

But I do wanna mention that some parts of the chicken is a little bit dry and not crunchy for the one that I got. I highly recommend you to dip their chicken into the miso gravy sauce.

4️⃣ LaKsa Butter wings
💰 £8.00
🌟 6.8/10

You will get 6 confit wings smothered in laksa, coconut and butter.I grew up eating laksa throughout my lifetime but I fail to grasp the taste of this laksa butter wings. It doesn’t taste like laksa to me but it’s definitely a matter of preference cos I think my brother likes it a lot.

Fried chicken burgers

5️⃣ October Special
💰 £10.50
🌟 8.5/10

We tried their October special burger 🍔. It’s a pretty dense burger packed with flavour. Their fried chicken is so tender, juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside.

Their secret spice mix certainly enhance the flavour of whole burger. I also enjoy having their salsa verde slaw, pink onions and American cheese which is stacked in between the fluffy buns. Honestly, It’s beyond divine.

6️⃣ Green Chilli Cheese
💰 £10.50
🌟 6.8/10

Their fried chicken thigh is tender and juicy which is topped pickled green chilli. Their green chilli is rather sour and doesn’t taste spicy at all. It comes with the usual ornament of shredded iceberg, chipotle sauce and American cheese. Overall, it’s a great burger packed with flavour but it doesn’t blow me away.

Conclusion

🤩Rating: 7.5/10
💷 Price: £
🎯Worth revisit: Neutral 🤚 their fried chickens are delicious with good selection of sides but nothing stood out IMO.
