A Stellar Birthday Lunch at SoLA Soho – Michelin Star Magic in Four Acts

SoLa London

Tucked away in the heart of Soho, Sola is a Michelin one-star restaurant that delivers refined Californian cuisine with elegant flair – and it made the perfect spot for a special birthday lunch celebration.

We went for their lunch menu (£74 per person), which is beautifully structured as four acts with three snacks to start. Each course unfolded like a performance, full of finesse and flavour.

Here’s our review

To begin, the snacks were a playful and elevated intro – bite-sized, artfully plated, and full of bold tastes. Then came my standout courses:
• Langoustine – delicate, perfectly cooked, and paired with flavours that made every bite sing.
• Turbot with caviar – luxurious and well-balanced, a highlight both in taste and texture.
• And finally, an unexpected yet stunning dessert: chocolate mousse topped with caviar. Rich, silky, and briny in just the right way – it was a brilliant finish.

From the warm, attentive service to the thoughtful presentation, Sola Soho absolutely lived up to its star. It was a birthday meal to remember, and I’ll definitely be back – maybe for dinner next time.
