Authentic Northwestern Xi’An cuisines in London ft. 1+1 Rougamo

AD🍜 1+1 Rougamo 🍜

1+1 Rougamo is a Chinese restaurant that serves authentic northwestern Xi’An cuisines originated from Cambridge and now set up a new branch in London.

Their food is so good that apparently students that have graduated from Cambridge university always travel from London back to Cambridge to have a meal here.

✨ Here’s my review ✨

1️⃣ ROUGAMO

🐷 Special Rougamo (Braised pork )
🦆 Crispy fried duck rougamo
💰 £5.80 (pork); £6.80 (duck)
🌟 7.5/10

This resembles a “hamburger” in the western world with the brioche buns being replaced by flaky pan-baked flatbread. Their fillings are so full that the flatbread could barely hold on to them. I prefer the duck over pork but both are well-marinated and packed with flavours and have a spicy kick. It’s delicious.

2️⃣ NOODLES

🍜 Traditional Xi An cold noodles
💰 £14.80
🌟 8/10

One of the best cold noodles I’ve ever tried. Their noodles are bouncey and chewy which is topped with fresh ingredients like sliced carrots, sliced tomatoes and crispy nuts.

I like their chilli sauce which is not too hot but comes with a gentle fiery kick when you eat the noodles. Yum! We added sesame sauce (+£0.50) which complements well with the chilli sauce.

🍲 Sliced Beef & Sichuan pepper soup noodles
💰 £14.80
🌟 8/10

You can choose to get vermicelli or wide flat glass noodles and we went for the later one. It’s served in a clay pot to keep it warm. It comes with a mixed of vegetables, mushrooms, noodles and sliced beef.

Sichuan Spicy is my fav soup base because I really like the explosive mix of pungent and spicy flavours! It’s not too hot apart from numbing my tongue.

3️⃣ RICE

🐽 Special braised pork with rice
💰 £11.50
🌟 9/10

I like lu rou fan, it’s a very popular dish in Taiwan and definitely my own kind of comfort food at its finest. Their portion is generous given the price paid. The pork belly is diced into the right size and cooked to perfection. I pair each mouthful of rice with a saucey pork belly. The fatty portion of its pork belly literally melts in my mouth. It’s so so good.

4️⃣ Dishes

🍗 Saliva Chicken
💰 £12.00
🌟 7.5/10

Saliva chicken is directly translated from Chinese “Kou Shui Ji” – it’s a cold dish made up of a poached chicken simmered in chilli sauce. One of the most-order authentic Chinese cuisines whenever you visit the Szechuan restaurant.

🐽 Pork leg joint
💰 £10.80
🌟 7/10

Slices of pork leg joints plated beautifully and comes with soy sauce.

Conclusion

🤩Rating: 8/10
