Fluffy Buns & Small Plates @BAO_Borough
BAO Borough
Today, I am going to bring you around to London’s most famous Taiwanese restaurant. One of its branches, Bao Borough, is located at the edge of Borough market, have you checked it out ? 🥰🥺
BAO London is a London street food restaurant that serves versatile steamed buns and Taiwanese small plates. Opened its first branch in Soho in 2015, BAO has since amassed a huge fan base following up with its Firzrovia opening in 2016!!
Head over to London Bridge Station; exit at Borough Market! BAO Borough offered various FLUFFY BUNS and small plates (including skewers)!! 💝🥰 It is inspired by Grill bars in Asia!
Who does not love eating a fluffy bao, filled with juicy meat or fresh cod fish?! Despite the fierce competition in London, BAO certainly lives up to its name. BAO Borough has presented each of the bao buns so well and tasted out of this world!
WHERE CAN YOU FIND BAO IN LONDON?
Following its major success in the first branch at Soho, Bao London has expanded and opened up the following stores:

Reviews – @ Bao Borough
Even in the pre-pandemic world, you need to book a reservation before showing up to avoid the long long queue! Hence, try to give them a ring or book for a table online to avoid disappointment!
We tried various steamed buns & Taiwanese small plates at BAO Borough, see below for my reviews:
40 Day Aged Beef, Taipei butter rice (9/10): £11
40-day aged beef slices sit on top of buttered rice with a glistening cured egg. I’m addicted to the beef’s char and it’s smoky, salty & delicious! The portion is quite small tho for £11.50 and I wish they would have more steak over the rice !
I would have given a 10/10 if not because of its presentation. Sadly, they have slightly compromised the food presentation because they need to rush to the kitchen to prepare for other orders. They are really busy at all times! It usually takes longer time for them to prepare this bowl, c. 10-15 min of wait before this is assembled for you. Believe me, their unique flavour completely blew me away!
Fried Chicken BAO (6.5/10): (£5.75)
I am not even kidding guys, their portion is really small and my chicken fillet is not crispy with thin slice of cheese. Therefore, it is not surprising to state that this is not my favourite! The bao struggles to contain its fillings.
Conclusion
Rating: 8/10
Price: ££
Worth revisit : YAS I have visited 2 of its 3 branches in London and I will check in their Soho branch into the future! Each small plate costs around £5-£6 but the portions are really small. It’s definitely not CHEAP EATS as the price easily adds up, but these fluffy little buns are 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐘𝐏𝐄!
