London’s authentic Japanese Charcoal Cooking ft. Robata Soho

ROBATA

ROBATA meaning ‘fireside’ specialises in Japanese charcoal cooking. A tradition first introduced by ancient fishermen using boxes o hot coals to warm their food as they gathered their day’s catch.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable Japanese dining experience in London, look no further than Robata. I recently had the pleasure of trying some of their standout dishes, and I was blown away by the flavors and presentation.

Food review

The miso aubergine was a particular highlight, with its tender and smoky flavor complemented perfectly by the rich miso glaze.

The hay-flamed beef fillet was another standout, with its perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth texture and subtle yet delicious charred flavor.

The skewers were a feast for the senses, with each one showcasing the skillful preparation and attention to detail.

The chicken thigh, Pork Iberico, and pork belly skewers were tender and flavorful, while the king oyster mushroom and chilli pepper squid were perfectly grilled and seasoned. And who can resist a juicy BBQ chicken wing?

The soft shell crab bao was another hit, with its light and fluffy bun and crispy yet tender crab filling.

And the salmon roll was a perfect example of the freshness and quality of Robata’s ingredients, with the delicate flavors of the salmon and rice complementing each other perfectly.
