Nan Yang cuisines in Malaysia ft. Oriental kopi
Oriental Kopi
I’ve spent most of my life in Johor Bahru, Malaysia (commonly known as JB), that is a town located just next to Singapore. With the major influx of investment into JB, I’ve been surprised with blocks of skyscrapers built along the highways and the introduction of several high-end shopping malls which includes ‘Mid Valley’ and ‘Paradigm mall’.
Oriental Kopi Kitchen is one of the stores recently opened in Mid Valley Southkey. It is a restaurant that offers Nan Yang cuisines that includes polo buns, toast and Portuguese egg tarts.
✨Here’s my review✨
1️⃣ Dry curry chicken mee pok
🌟 7/10
💰 RM14.90
Mee pok is flat and yellow noodles and this is tossed in curry sauce which includes toppings like chicken, bak choy and potatoes. The chicken is a bit tough and dry to be eaten. The noodles are lumped together but I like the taste of its curry sauce.
2️⃣ Oriental Curry Laksa
🌟 7/10
💰 RM14.90
Laksa refers to a bowl of thick rice noodles served in spicy coconut soup broth. Laksa is culturally significant in Southeast Asia, influenced by Chinese, Indonesia and Malay.
The toppings include fish, prawns, egg, bean sprouts and fish cake. This bowl is delicious yet overpriced or I might stunned by the power of inflation.
3️⃣ Penang fruit rojak
🌟 6.5/10
💰 RM12.90
Rojak is another popular salad dish made up of shredded fruits and vegetables immersed in sweet, salty and spicy sauce.
That’s right, rojak is commonly found in countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. O this plate, you can find pineapple, apple, guava and cucumber but I wish they have included ‘youtiao’ deep-fried breadstick.
Conclusion
🤩 Rating: 6.83/10
