New French Pastry branch in Holborn ft. Comptoir Gourmand

AD 🥐 Comptoir Gourmand 🥐

[New Opening] Comptoir Gourmand is a family fun business that is based in Bermondsey with four branches Bermondsey, Maltby, Borough and Soho (closing down).

They have recently joined forces with “The Keune House” to establish a brand new Branch at Holborn with the view of closing down their soho branch in a month. Both of them are family run business that are conscious of operating a Green/ environment friendly business to reduce plastic packaging.

I’m honoured to meet “Quentin”, part of the management team that runs the business who is certainly friendly and provided attentive services to us.

✨Here’s my review ✨

1️⃣ Ham & Cheese Croissant 🥐
💰 £4.90
🌟 8.5/10

They have definitely perfect the recipe of croissant – this is filled with ham, emmental cheese, bechamel sauce. You can request for the croissant sandwich to be heated for about 2 min to enjoy a warm meal.

Their croissant is beautiful – flaky and airy. It is cut open to include their fillings and I certainly like how the cheese is stacked between the cross-section and sits on top of the pastry.

Together with the matching combination of ham & cheese, it tasted excellent. I would come back and have this every day for my brunch.

2️⃣ Brioche aux Fruits Rouges
💰 £4.70
🌟 7/10

Their berries pastry are being sold at slightly mid low end of the price range compared to what I have in other pastry shop in London which costed me more than £5.00 for a pastry like this.

Their brioche is filled with creme patisserie and tooped with mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries and raspberries).

Rather than pairing the berries with flaky tart exture, their brioche bun is fluffy and soft. On a scale of 10 for the sweetness, I’ll rank it towards the mid range of 5 – their sweet cream is balanced by the sour berries. But I prefer it to be in tart texture.

3️⃣ Latte
💰 £3.70
🌟 7/10

A decent cup of coffee that comes in size larger than what you normally get in other coffee shop. It’s good to pair it with sweet pastry to balance out the sweetness. Totally like how Quentin made a good latte art for me to film it!

Conclusion

🤩Rating: 8/10
💷 Price: £
🎯Worth revisit: YAS👏 I can see how much efforts they have put into shaping the outer part for the pastry. What’s better everything is being made fresh every day.
