On a sunny afternoon in Florence, we found ourselves drawn to the heart of the city, where the historic Vivoli Gelateria awaits its patrons. Established in 1930, Vivoli is not just any ice cream parlour; it’s the oldest in Florence, steeped in rich history and tradition.

We decided to indulge in one of their most renowned offerings – the affogato. Priced at €6.00, this classic Italian dessert combines the best of both worlds: creamy gelato and rich espresso. Watching the barista expertly prepare our affogato was a treat in itself. A generous scoop of their velvety vanilla gelato was placed in a cappuccino cup, and a hot shot of espresso was poured over it, creating a perfect harmony of hot and cold, bitter and sweet.
