Everything you need to know about traveling to Greece in the Summer of 2022

Greece in a nutshell

If you are looking to travel to Greece this summer, then check out my detailed blog post as I documented my journey with my boyfriend for 8 days and 7 nights in Greece from 23rd to 30th May 2022. My boyfriend planned the whole itinerary which is something that I am eternally grateful for – thanks babe! I will provide a breakdown of must-visit tourist attractions, restaurants, and food to visit in Mykonos, Athens, and Santorini.

Greece is very hot – bring your sunscreen!

In general, if you asked me to describe Greece in three words, I would say it is hot and nice people. First of all, the weather is super hot and we are walking under the intense sun for the whole day from 7:00 am until the sunset at 8:30 pm. Look at my picture below and feel how strong was the sun yourself. I could barely keep my eyes open and will highly recommend you bring more than 1 sunblock from your home country. We brought 2 Nivea sunblock for our 8 days trip which is just enough as we keep re-applying the sunblock every two hours. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen as it is being sold at more than double the prices everywhere in Greece.

As an Asian, I could never understand the joy of sunbathing which makes my skin hurt and burnt which is a painful experience. I gonna admit that we also brought an umbrella and used it to cover us from the scorching sun but it is useless on some days as the strong wind has almost broken it apart.

Nice and friendly Greek makes it a pleasant trip

As a Londoner, I always felt that people on the streets are very cold and strict. My boyfriend and I both felt that Greek people are really nice, friendly and polite. I am a huge foodie and visited multiple restaurants throughout the whole trip. Everyone I met – the staff, waiter, shop owners, bus drivers etc greeted us with a smiley face, treated us very well makes us feel very comfortable. Whenever I am shooting videos for my Tiktok video, they always asked me to film their faces and made them famous. Most of the Greek people speak very basic English and sometimes, it may be hard to strike a conversation with them or to clarify any misunderstanding when you wanted to buy something (bus ticket etc), dont hesitate to use Google translate and show them what you meant!
